George Gange Way to re-open this weekend

The A409 George Gange Way will reopen for vehicle use on Monday 31 May. This follows its temporary closure since March, which marked the start of the Wealdstone Town Centre improvements.

The first stage of works has progressed well and is almost complete. The planned road closure, signalling changes, road resurfacing and public realm updates, all ran on time, minimising further disruption to the area.

The Council is making improvements for local residents and businesses, as part of a wider plan of approved developments scheduled for Wealdstone. This is in response to extensive consultation feedback to make Wealdstone a better and more vibrant place, including conversations through the Wealdstone Action Group. The overall scheme will transform the town centre and improve walking, cycling and bus journeys in the area.

• George Gange Way will reopen to main road traffic

• The pedestrian / cycle crossing opposite Peel Road will resume operation

• Buses H9 and H10 will resume their usual routes and the bus stop outside the Wealdstone Centre will return to use

• Other road closures and diversions will be removed

• Wealdstone town centre car parks will be open as usual. Access to the car park from the George Gange Way / Canning Road junction will be reinstated.

From the 1 June - preparatory works for the next phase will be carried along the High Street, checking drainage connections, and installing new street lighting throughout the wider scheme.

Phase 2 works are scheduled to begin from mid-June, around Harrow & Wealdstone Station and High Street / The Bridge / Ellen Webb Drive / Masons Avenue junction.
